    <正> This paper briefly accounts a course called"AGuide to English Learning Strategies",conducted bythe authors for the English major freshmen at theiruniversity.Its main goal was to raise the learners'"awareness of strategy use"and help the learnersmake better use of some learning strategies.It tackledsome common problems which often make Chineselearners of English less efficient in their learning.Sug-gestions are put forward in the course evaluation,concerning making it more practical and beneficial forthe learners.

    <正> This paper describes a one-term experiment con-ducted in the author's English major class from Sept.1999 to Dec.1999.The project is intended to encour-age students'autonomy,and to train students how toacquire various skills in language learning and com-munication.The project provided students withenough space to exert their autonomy and attained itsdesired goals.The beneficial effects show in three as-pects:The centre of teaching and learning shifts fromthe teacher to the students;given autonomous learn-ing environment,students can learn more effectively;and students can acquire all round abilities.

    <正> The linguistic interference of one's mother tonguealways poses an obstacle to his or her learning of for-eign languages and teachers should try their best to dis-cover means to overcome this.This paper analyzes theforms and causes of Chinglish,which is created byadult Chinese learners of English through their moth-er-tongue interference.After a contrastive study ofsome linguistic features between Chinese and English,the author lists ten common forms of Chinglish,il-lustrated with examples from his own teaching prac-tice,and points out their respective causes and somepossible measures to eradicate them.
